What is the Environmental Science Center ?

The Environmental Science Center (ESC) was established in April 1975 for the treatment of chemically hazardous wastes from the University. The ESC became the focus of public attention, because such organization was the first case among all the national universities in Japan. Our aim is the creation of desirable environment and safety and our constructive policy. In 1995, a research section "Environmental Assessment Research" was established. By this, we obtained the main three sections; research, education, and operations. After that, another research section "Environmental Measurement and Microlaboratory" was established in 1999. The ESC is now recognized as the leader in environmental sciences. However, some problems also remain, for instance, practical education concerning environment ethics for all the members of the University.
